Stupid training ride #2 pcpp/lotoja

Today was a big day for me on the bike. Started in Mapleton up through Woodland Hills/Elk ridge then up Payson canyon to 7900 feet (snow line) then back to my house where I ate some food changed chamois, and changed training partners with enough time left in the day to bust out the same route again.
I was heart broken when I saw the forest service opened the second gate to Payson canyon, as I really loved using the whole road for my decent. They did, however, close the third gate so there is at least 1300 or 1400 feet of closed vertical.
Despite the open roads the decent was nothing short of magical. The corners on this canyon and the smoothness of the road kept my throttling non-stop for 3,000 feet.

Time:07:29:32
Distance:109.24 mi
Elevation Gain:8,990 ft
Calories:8,096 C
After todays ride I know I can finish LOTOJA. I need to start putting some big miles in on the MTB bike to make certain Im ok with PCPP. One ride Im really excited about doing is climbing the "Dream Mine" road which starts in the valley at approx. 4700' and goes to the top of Tower Mountain, at 9,000'.
The snow is starting to melt pretty fast and I see that as a ride that will happen within the next few weeks.

Let me know when you do the dream mine. Last year I made it up to the second mine shaft than I ran out of time. Steep very steep.

I agree Payson canyon is one of the best descents around.

Nice work getting the base fitness ready this early in the season. I think I could "finish" both events right now, but it would be ugly. Of course I didn't get in to PCPP, so that part is moot.
